Booty book for Jacqui's photos..., September 24, 2005

(REAL NAME)
We bought Booty Food after reading the reviews raving about the book
posted on Amazon.com and because we used to enjoy Jacqui Malouf's show
Hot off the Grill with Bobby Flay on Food Network Channel. However, we
are extremely disappointed with the contents of Booty Food. The book
is full of photos of Jacqui Malouf specifically choreographed for this
book and the recipes are nothing to write home about. We had such high
hopes for this book, but they all faded away after trying few recipes
in the book. If you really want a cookbook for special occasions to
give your girlfriend or wife, buy instead Intercourses: An Aphrodisiac
Cookbook by Martha Hopkins and Randall Lockridge. But if you find Ms.
Malouf attractive and want a book of her photos with her significant
other then buy this book. I guess our standards for good food are much
higher than other reviewers'.

You Wish You Wrote This..., February 9, 2004
By
Jeremy du Brul (Chicago, IL USA) - See all my reviews
A simple concept that has been pondered and agonized for years. For
centuries, food and sex has been linked... some of it are oysters,
some of it is cobra's blood. Jaqui dispenses advice that does not deal
with cobra's blood, but more readily found at your local grocery store
(including cleaning products... i.e. clean up the joint before he/she
comes over)and some pretty solid dating advice.
Let's face it, Bobby Flay's second bannana was the only reason why we
guys watched Bobby; she's total eye candy, she's funny and she's into
food. And she's written a nuts to bolts book on how to get the girl
(or guy), centered around food.
For someone like me, I take the advice. I can cook circles around
most... no idle boast. I welcome all challengers. But the dating
thing, I can always use better information. Jacqui is irrevernt at
times and very poinient at other times. Her language is breezy and
fun, but drives some pretty solid points home... keep it simple,
stupid!
If you want to impress, keep it tasty; but not so elaborate that
you're spending all bloody night in the kitchen and not in the
bedroom... except for a very special night. Then again, that's why the
term "mis en plas" exists. Everything in it's place... plan ahead,
prep ahead and you won't be stuck in the kitchen all night. And be
yourself; keep your wits about you.
I don't know if this book will neccesarily help you in getting laid or
finding that special someone that you're going to bring home to Mom
and Dad, but this book ain't going to hurt your chances either. It's a
fun read, the recipes are solid... and there are some way cute pics of
Jacqui to boot.
And you don't have to grill the potatoes in the Grilled Red Bliss
Potatoes with Wasabi Creme Fraiche either... boil till just done,
chill 'em and slice 'em. Recipes like that are highly adaptable...
improvisation in the kitchen is good for improvisation in the bedroom.
best of luck to all. And congratulations to Jacqui. It's a rock solid
book.

love this cook book!!!, March 1, 2004

It's funny, it's sassy and the recipes are to die for!!! The
bacon-wrapped scallops, the mango-brie quesadillas, the chocolate
pudding....forget about it! And Jacqui Malouf is so funny and real
that it's like cooking with a best friend. She takes the pressure to
be perfect off with her hilarious commentary and her get-real
approach. And, she provides all kinds of shortcuts so that you can get
back to the bedroom as quickly as possible. This book would be a great
gift for seasoned cooks or people who are new in the kitchen, not to
mention a great wedding shower gift!
